Chengdu Optronics Eugenlight Technologies has announced the production of the Combo PON OLT Quad-OSA optical device product line EO0410ETC that meets the D2 specification.
Quad-OSA for Combo PON OLT Quad-OSA integrates two transceivers in one optical device: 2.5G 1490nm DFB laser and 1310nm APD for traditional 2.5G GPON and 10G 1577nm EML laser and 1270nm APD for XGPON And use WDM multiplexed to couple to the output optical port. This series of products released by Optoelectronics supports the miniaturized SFP+ package. The link budget fully meets the 32 dB requirement of the D2 specification in the combo PON OLT, and XG-PON and XGS-PON products can be separately provided at the XGPON level.
The Combo PON OLT protocol covers two sets of protocols and multiple specifications of GPON and XGPON. There are N1, N2a, D1, D2 and other specifications for the link budget. In short, to correspond to the 28dB and 32dB budgets of traditional GPON B+ and C+ links, XG(S)-PON corresponds to the same link budget and is most beneficial for GPON to NGPON smooth upgrade. This is the D1 and D2 specifications for the Combo PON.
In the past few years, the hybrid integrated Combo PON network deployment process has been relatively slow. One of the most important reasons is the maturity of the Combo PON OLT single-fiber bidirectional optical device supply chain, especially the maturity of high-link budget optical devices. degree. Optical device companies have long faced significant challenges in high-quality Quad-OSA yields. In order to promote the application of Combo PON, all parties in the industry chain have compromised the transition plan to reduce the specification to 31dB N2a. However, for most optical device companies developing PON products, the yield of N2a Quad-OSA products is still under pressure, and the 32 dB D2 optical device products have lower yields.
On the other hand, at the application level, operators have been expecting the maturity of high-link budget optical devices/optical modules as soon as possible. At the 2018 China Optical Network/FTTH Forum held in Beijing in June this year, operators such as China Mobile and China Telecom still explicitly require D2 optical devices/optical modules to form a mature supply chain to support the full coverage of Combo PON. .
In response to the Combo PON challenge, Chengdu Guangchuang has developed a proprietary modular convergence focusing method that effectively improves optical coupling efficiency, reduces channel isolation, and ensures high receiver sensitivity and other indicators. Opto-Crystal also uses its “Eugen-Pactive” process to automate component assembly, optical coupling, laser welding and glue curing processes to ensure highly reliable, replicable product conversion. Quad-OSA optical devices fully meet the D2 specifications and achieve high yield and scalable conversion requirements. At the same time, Quad-OSA optical devices support both XFP and smaller SFP+ OLT module packages.
Dr. Xu Yuanzhong, founder and CEO of Guang Chuanglian, believes that the mass production of the Combo PON OLT D2 Quad-OSA optical device series will further improve the Combo PON industry chain, and will promote the N2a transition plan to upgrade to a more practical D2 solution as soon as possible. Provide operators with support for the industry chain in the next phase of launching Combo PON applications.
