Intelligent substation switch test method and online monitoring

December 31, 2021
Intelligent substations carry out protocol communication according to IEC 61850, and usually adopt the typical "three-layer and two-network" layered networking structure to enable information sharing between different manufacturers and different devices. As an important carrier for the network data transmission of the equipment in the station, the switch directly affects the stability of the communication operation of the station control layer and the process layer. In the context of "building a strong and smart grid", the use of smart substation switches in substation operations has become an inevitable trend. However, most of the current switch testing and online status monitoring are still dedicated to communication systems, or switches that have undergone minor modifications. The testing methods and monitoring methods for such switches are somewhat different from the needs of smart substations. . In addition, traditional substation test methods are often mainly aimed at the factory self-inspection of various equipment and equipment manufacturers. These inspections are mainly preparations for the construction of substations, and lack field-level applications. In this context, this article first discusses the importance of the development of smart grids and the safe and stable operation of smart substation network communications, and analyzes the technical characteristics of smart substation switches and their evolution and application in various stages. Secondly, in view of the current testing and online monitoring in the application of smart substation switches, as well as the current overall communication network status and quality monitoring capabilities in the current smart substations, the lack of network link fault location capabilities, and the automation of switching equipment configuration needs to be improved. The security protection ability of internal information interaction is relatively low. This article has carried out the following research: 1. Research the IEC 61850 standard and its main technical characteristics. Covers the five directions of hierarchical substation overall framework, object-oriented modeling, abstract communication service interface, specific communication service mapping and substation configuration description language。2. Propose a systematic test and online monitoring method. This method uses optical splitting devices that can support network transmission characteristics, so that the existing wiring methods on the site are not affected. It replaces the traditional single switch test method, and can monitor the real-time data of the switch online to achieve field-level, systematic testing and monitoring. 3. According to the actual application requirements of smart substations, the test methods for smart substation switches and the determination methods of test results are studied, and four important test methods about interface test, function test, performance test and communication security test are proposed. 4. Designed a switch status online monitoring software, based on the IEC 61850 message transmission protocol, to achieve online monitoring and simple analysis of the network, check the correctness of the network, and ensure the consistency and rationality of the station configuration.
